Tips on Buying Coupons from eBay

Our reader Jennifer sent over some great tips on buying coupon from eBay (after she encountered a a slight disaster!) Thanks for the tips!!

1. Set up a PayPal account so payments can go through quickly.

2. Narrow your search to BUY IT NOW only. It's not worth getting into a bidding war.

3. Look at free shipping options and decide which is the best value for you.

4. Cross your coupon with the sale, promotion, twice the value and/or round up and decide if it's a price you are willing to pay.

5. Read the ENTIRE posting.

6. *** AND REMEMBER *** Only purchase from sellers that guarantee shipping the same day if payment is received by a specified time or the next day at latest so you can be SURE to receive your coupons before the end of the sale. Otherwise, you're gambling with the money you paid.

* I'll just add one more to Jennifer's list*

7. This basically what she said in #3 but always calculate the actual cost per coupon! You may be getting free baby wipes with a coupon, but if they are costing you $.75 a coupon to buy - it's not a good deal!!

I sell coupons on Ebay and only put mine under Buy It Now if someone requests it. There is a fee when you post under Buy It Now.. being a frugal mama, I only post when I can do it free of charge, which is easy with coupons. You can always message the people selling on Ebay and see what their "Buy It Now" price would be or ask them about how long it will take to ship, etc. Anyway just sayin'- Frugal people love coupons & love being frugal and may not be paying to put them under Buy It Now.
