I was reading through some past comments adn one particular comment left on a Walgreens post inspired me :). A poor coupon shopper had $100 worth of products in her basket and was turned away, leaving hte store empty handed, after being told she could only purchase one of each item and only use one of each coupon - a new rule, likely imposed by an unknowing manager. I'm sure most of us can count numerous shopping trips and hours spent searching and calculating transactions, only to turned away by a cashier or supervisor who has a "new policy."
I think it's a good idea for us couponers to support and encourage the "nice" stores by and discourage the not so nice ones (by choosing to shop other locations).
Conveniently, Discount Queen readers are mostly local ( I think 70% or so), so how about we share some of our stores. Good and bad. You can share any store - Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target, Walmart, Albertsons - as many or as few as you like. In exchange - I'll share mine! So if your going to use my stores, it would only be fair to share yours too right :) ? If your not local - leave a comment anyway - we have a lot of Northwestern readers as well! (Plus - if no one comments it's going to be embarrassing for me:).)
My Favorites:
Albertsons: Cherry/Meridian and Columbia Village
Walgreens: Ustick/Eagle and Linder/McMillan
Rite Aid: Orchard/Overland
Target: Eagle/Chinden (though I don't love shopping any w/ coupons)
Walmart: Fairview/Eagle (much better lately!) or Greenhurst

Albertsons: Five Mile and Overland (i love them!!!), but have good experiences at many in the valley
Walgreens: Ustick/Chinden or Fairview/Milwaukee(this is the store where I do all my Sunday shopping since I also hit up Winco and they are awesome!!!) I absolutely refuse to shop at Meridian/Overland.
Rite Aid: Orchard/Overland (absolutely the best for coupons, they know the coupon policy inside and out!!) and I wont shop at the one on Main Street in Meridian, the cashiers there have no education about coupons or how they work so I dont even try anymore
Target: Eagle/Chinden( like you I am not a huge fan of using coupons at Target period, somehow they always make me feel like I am stealing from them, but this store is better than the one on Emerald/ Milwaukee)
Walmart: I dont even try to use coupons at walmart, and I dont shop there very often as it is
My favorite Albertson's is Orchard/Overland, they are so nice and always promote coupons and have a lot of products in stock for sales.
Rite Aid is also Orchard/Overland.
I live on the other side of the state, near Rexburg. I only get 1 of each store (you listed) to choose from & unfortunately there isn't a Rite Aid around, I think they'd be good competition for Walgreens.
Thanks for all you do!
I LOVE the Albertsons Caldwell Stadium store. The assistant store manager is absolutely awesome and understands couponers (I think his wife does it). The cashiers are extremely knowledgable and friendly and they always have tons of product available.
I tend to not shop at Rite Aid and the same goes for Target. I don't even bother with the hassle. The Caldwell Rite Aid is very nice though and does work with you on coupons.
The Walgreens on 10th and Cleveland is great. They are coupon friendly. I also like the Caldwell Walmart. I have always been able to price match and use coupons without any problems. They are usually quite impressed with my savings.
I'm new to coupon shopping --- wow what a learning curve!!! So far this is my experience:
Albertson's: so far I've only gone to 12th/7th in Nampa -- cashier's are very hit/miss but when you get a good when they're the best!
Walgreens: Midland/Blvd in Nampa -- I've only used coupons a couple of times and they've been good to deal with
Rite Aid: in Caldwell - only been there once and will never ever go back with a coupon
Target: in Nampa -- so far they've been very helpful and supportive of me using coupons, I probably use the most here & Albertson's
Walmart: Garrity/Franklin -- I go here out of habit because I work near by, good if I have coupons
The Albie's on 10-Mile and Cherry is my absoulute favorite!!! The Garrity Walmart seems to be the one I enjoy going to the most, but the Meridian one if fine too. I have had a great coupon experience at both. The Linder/McMillan Walgreen's employee's are super nice, but they are often out of the good deals. And I don't even bother with Rite-Aid.
In Idaho Falls- I shop:
Albertsons-I use the one in Ammon because it's closer and they are generally pretty good and getting better, 17th St and Broadway I've heard are a little better about stocking up when a big sale is coming.
Walmart-again in Ammon because of convenience-they are fine with manufacturer coupons but if it beeps on a internet printed one-they won't accept it at all!!
Walgreens-again in Ammon and they have generally been pretty good about coupons-don't alway have the items I want if I wait until Tuesday or so.
Thanks for the heads up.
Jaimee with We Save and U Save
I am in San Antonio Tx, I rarely have issues with WalGreens but lately they are not accepting IP coupons ( ARGGG ) I rarely hve issues with FM 78/Foster Rd, I hate all Targets in this area ! I have to drive 40 miles to New Braunfuls for respect from Target, and don't even get me going on WalMart !! They are all idiots that think I am trying to make the store go bankrupt !!!
I will never stop couponing, they wont break me !!!
I absolutely love the Albertsons in Columbia Village off of Federal Way.
The Walgreens on Apple is hit or miss. I have some issues with the Walgreens on the Federal Way but if the manager is there he always tried to fix it. My only big complaint about this store was when Air Wicks were 3.99 and the coupon was for 4.00 off.
I am not a big Rite Aid person. I am going to try to get over their more and figure it out.
I love Albertsons on Vista. Everyone is so nice and when I come in the customer servise always has double coupons ready to give me.
I like Rite Aid on Vista as well.
I agree with the idaho falls/ammon shopper comment. i have not really had problems at our albertsons walmart or walgreens. The walgreens on 1st and woodruff however is not very coupon friendly most of the time. They always have "new policys"
Albertsons: State/Glenwood They are always wonderful. Very patient. (I love Eagle Albertsons great employees but they only want you to have one purchase so not double coupon friendly with several purchases.)
Walgreens - Glenwood - The one on State in Eagle just announced that they are no longer accepting black and white printed coupons but have not had this issue at any other Walgreens.
Walmart - Glenwood. I have not had any issues with coupons very easy to work with.
Fred Meyer - Chinden/Glenwood. Great never a problem using coupons.
Well, thank you for asking!
I have had great experiences at Riteaid in Caldwell. I love the Albertsons by the stadium in Caldwell, and most of the time the older Albertsons on 12th ave. in Nampa.
My Walgreen's experiences at the 3 Nampa stores have been hit and miss. I calculate those trips out right down to the finite detail, with coupon policy in hand, and if they don't have what I need I tend to leave and go to another store.
Since beginning to coupon last October I have not bought a single item at Target. Every single scenario I've found on one of the three blogs I watch has been denied and after several trips to the Nampa Target I got fed up and refuse to shop there. Sad, but I felt that was the only way to communicate my distaste with their inconsistent policies.
I LOVE the Walgreens at 12th and Greenhurst in Nampa... the managers have all been really polite and helpful. I have had BAD experiences with managers at 12th Ave and 7th St in Nampa - I won't go in there with coupons anymore :(
I will not shop at the Albertsons on Eagle and State. I have never had a positive experience there and will not continue to waste my time. I also will not shop at the Walgreens on Meridian and Overland or the Rite Aid on Meridian and Fairview.
I do however love the Albertsons on Eagle and McMillan and 36th and State St. So coupon friendly and I can place my big orders. Also I have a favorite manager at the Albertsons on Meridian and Fariview.
My favorite Walgreens are Linder and McMillan and Locus Grove and Fairview.
I don't shop much at Rite Aid but what I have done it seems the one on 5 mile and Fairview are pretty coupon friendly.
Over here in Central Oregon and thought I would share my two cents on stores in the area.
Rite Aid in Prineville: This is the only chain store we have here to coupon at, and the few times I have been in there, I have had lousy experiences. The cashiers don't seem to know the coupon policies and treat me like I am stealing from their store. We even called corporate and asked them if we were doing something wrong and told them about our experience.
Rite Aid in Redmond: I just went there, and not only did the cashiers help me find my products, they are super friendly and welcoming of my stack of coupons. They were having some debit card/register issues when I was there and were profusely apologizing, but I said, "Hey, no problem at all. The fact that you are coupon friendly completely makes up for the computer problems you are having!"
Albertsons in Redmond is also great, if you get a good cashier. Josiah and Darla (asst store manager) are great, and they allow you do to multiple transactions in a row all the time. They are usually stocked up on sale items too.
Walgreens in Redmond: We have had a lot of success with Wags! We have "adopted" the Cosmetics cashier, Kim as our couponing sister and she not only accepts our coupons, but helps us out when we forget a filler item! She is awesome. The other ladies there are great too, especially if you are friendly.
WalMart in Redmond: Haven't done much there lately, but they have always accepted my IP coupons and manufacturer coupons.
Target in Bend: I feel like a thief every time I shop there, and one time, my cashier was one of those customer service desk people! She seemed to be complaining the entire time about how many coupons I had. And the other day, I was there, and two of my FREE deals were completely out of stock. Bummer.
Albertsons in Bend: Again, a good store to go to, allowing multiple transactions. I always look for a young male cashier there, as they tend to be the most easy going of the cashiers.
Safeway in Redmond: A good cashier here is key as well as good timing. Again, I find a young male. They are just easier to work with and almost laugh at how little you are getting your items for. I love it. I find that the store personnel are easy to work with, and they help you find those weird items that you can't find.
That's all this mind can come up with tonight. Thanks for all you do Krazy Coupon Lady to help me save money (though, we are still in stockpile mode, so all the money is spent this month!)
I really like the Albertsons off Overland/Orchard. The manager is a couponer, she studies the ads in advance and always makes sure to have the sale items in stock! The Albertsons in Caldwell by the stadium is also really good, I went to the customer service to get doublers, they were sitting on the counter and I was told to take as many as I'd need!! Awesome no 20 trips around to different Alb's to grab doublers..
Rite Aid: definitely the Overland/Orchard one they are great with coupons and very friendly.
Walgreens: Ten Mile& Cherry, they are always friendly although they don't stock very well at all!
Caldwell- Albertsons by the stadium is the best ever!
Not so fond of Walgreens downtown(by KFC)but the new one, further out of town, is good.
My favorite Albie's is Cherry/Meridian, I have also had good experiences at Eagle/McMillan and Cherry/10 mile.
I have found the Walgreens at McMillan/Linder isn't super coupon friendly. They seem to have some strange extra rules or something. I like the WG's on Locust Grove/Fairview, but they're out of stuff all the time. The WG's at Cherry and is it 10 mile? that one seems to have better stock.
In the Treasure Valley
Albies-orchard/overland is always so nice, and sometimes if I don't know about a deal or a catalina that I could otherwise get with one more item, or by splitting up a transaction, the cashier will tell me about it.
Walgreens-DON'T bother with Overland/Meridian. They're never stocked well and they're not particularly helpful.
