I tried to do your Bop It scenario today and the checker wouldn't take the Monopoly coupon since the game was already free.
However, I was naughty and took the Monopoly card game over to Walmart and returned it there for 4bucks so I only paid 2 for the Bop It technically :)
Unfortunately, these scenarios will all depend upon your cashier.
This is a definite YMMV!
