Albertsons 2/24 - 3/2

::EDIT::
General Mills Pormotion isn working when you spend $20 BEFORE coupons. See HERE for updated prices.
I've got some really really bad news folks. Brace yourself. Seriously though, it's bad!

Albertsons has changed the rules on us this week. General Mills is running a "Catalina" promotion starting Wed., when you buy $20 worth of selected GM products, you will receive a $7 coupon good to use on your next order (or what we like to call a catalina or OYNO). Normally, you would only have to reach $20 BEFORE coupons.

For example, if cereal was $2, and you had a $1 off coupon for each box, you would only have to buy 10 boxes to reach $20, even though your total out of pocket would only be $10, and you would then receive the $7 catalina. It would look like this:

10 boxes of Cereal = $20
-(10) $1/1 coupons = -$10
Pay: $10
-Get $7 OYNO/Catalina
Total Cost = $3 for 10 boxes ($.30 each)

This week, Albertsons has changed the fine print to read $20 AFTER coupons, so the scenario would look like this:

20 Boxes of Cereal = $40
-(20) $1/1 coupons = -$20
Pay: $20
-Get $7
Total Cost = $14 for 20 boxes ($.70 each)

As you can see, the savings is dramatically different! AND there is a limit of one transaction per customer! Yikes! What are we to do?? How are we to stock pile with all these new rules? Even if you came back once a day to do one transaction, you may also have a problem using the $7 OYNO on teh next order, without having to add in $7 woth of product to make sure you stay at $20 AFTER coupons.

We'll just have to follow the rules and see how all this plays out. Hopefully this is a one time thing :).

Interesting...Safeway recently did something similiar with their coupons, now your total has to be $10 or $20 before Club card discount before you can use the Super Value coupons. I am betting there will be alot of Albys stores that get hung on their GM cereal inventory this week.

to add to the bad news, went into my favorite Albies last night with the $4 Baby Best diaper coupons and 2 free golden stuffed Oreo coupons and they refused to honor BOTH. Said store policy - they can no longer accept FREE - and the OReos came from Nabisco! And the Baby Best is their brand! Going to complain to the district manager and let Nabisco know. Went to Safeway and Freddies and had NO problem with my free oreos.
