One year growing up our family did an all home made Christmas. It was the best Christmas I can remember because instead of wanting to open our own presents we were more excited for everyone else to open the gifts we had made them. It was a reminder to me of the TRUE meaning of Christmas. It's about giving and the joy that brings. It's about keeping Christ in Christmas. That's a tradition I want to continue with my family as my kids grow because I want them to know that feeling and have that reminder.

Handmade gifts are a tradition for me. I often find new crafts I enjoy and that becomes the "gift of the year" as I adjust it for those I care about... this year I am knitting- scarves, blankets, and placemats. However, the most meaningful handmade gift I can think of coming my direction, sort of, is the dollhouse my dad made for my daughter- who isn't yet two... but has a keepsake I hope she'll treasure her entire life!

Last year my daughter and I made homemade Christmas ornaments for all of her cousins, and they did the same for her. We now are going to make it a tradition so each year we get new handmade ornaments from our family to always remember our Christmas' past. It is so much more meaninful than any other gift we could buy for eachother! And I can't wait to see what they make!
My mom made us ornaments every year as kids. It's fun to look back and see all of them.

When I was small, my Grandmother made our family some ornaments out of clear prism beads and safety pins. I always loved to look at them all dangly and shiny on our evergreen tree. Years later, whe I was all grown up, my mother made me the recipient of the little angel with the handpainted wooden head. It holds a special place in my heart and on our tree every year.

One of the best handmade gifts I received was that of an American Girl doll outfit. The person who made it, matched it to a tutu that I wore in a ballet so in a sense the doll was me and my costume. I loved it.
I'd love to win! My most memorable homemade gift would have to have been a doll cradle my parents made me when I was a kid. Please pick me!!
My favorite gift was a pair of knitted slippers from my grandmother.

I would have to say the most memorable homemade gift for Christmas was not actually to me but one all of the kids of our family did for my mother. We got a book published with pictures of each of our families and a little story about each member. It will always be special.

Hey Ladies, I am so excited to attend this boutique. I can't wait to see all of your wonderful creative ideas. We are trying to have a "made from the heart Christmas" I am hoping for some good inspiration. Thanks for doing this!
My most memorable homemade gift is a bracelet my mom made me two Christmases ago. It is memorable beause my mom was never very crafty but this was something that for some reason she really wanted to make me rather than buy. That same summer she passed away unexpectadly so I will always cherish the time she took to make it for me and remember her when I wear it. My email is jocelynlockhart@cableone.net
The most memorable handmade gift I ever received was a wooden hand made box built by my dad and filled with handmade doll clothes from my mom. The most memorable handmade gift I have given wasfor my brothers family. It was a huge chess set. The chess 'board' was painted canvas and each of the pieces were hand painted stuffed and weighted characters that sat upright on the canvas. I remember looking at that when it was done and being so excited because it looked great and I knew they would love it! GIVE HANDMADE!! Yahoo!
One of my most meaningful handmade gifts I made last year was cross stich a picture where I then put my daughters footprint, name and birthday on it. I gave it to my mother.

My all time favorite gift was a baby blessing dress crocheted by my Grandma. It is beautiful and I will always cherish it.
My favorite handmade gifts have always been anything my girls made me. From the simplest card, to the lopsided clay vase. (at least I think it was a vase!) My most memorable, however, came from my oldest when she was 7 or 8. It was a book she made on "Why I Love My Mom". It had poems, drawings, and dozens of reasons why she loved me. It was beautiful, and it looked like it took months to make. She wrapped it herself, and was by far one of my very favorite gifts of all times. I still cherish it. It also taught me that time and love put into gifts mean so much more than the price you pay.
I'm lovin' your blog. I've blogged about the giveaway @ www.hissyfitsandhalos.blogspot.com
Happy Holidays!
When I was on my mission we all gave different homemade gifts and that was my favorite. Plus who can forget the mix tape/cd from that certain boy in high school. That's a great gift! Love ya gals....Pick Me! Pick Me! Pick Me!
