**** UPDATE****
I just got back from Nampa Walmart (12th/Greenhurst)where I took in the Albertson's ad and had them price match the Ice cream @ $ 1.00, I asked customer service if I could use the Albertson's catalina at their store and they said yes! So I walked out with 13 pints of ice cream for $ 3.00 (your price may differ based on the catalina's you have. I had 2 for $4.00 off 5 items & $ 2.00 off 3 items)
Right now Albertson's has their pint size Breyers ice cream on sale for $ 1.00. You can get them for FREE by printing the internet coupon (at coupons.com- it is $ 1.00 off ANY 2 Breyers products- You can print 2 coupons, so that's 4 pints of FREE ice cream!) & using the Albertson's double coupon with it! I LOVE free ice cream!
::Another Edit::
These catalina's may also be printing (let us know if they work for you!) when you buy the Breyers pints (thanks Utah Deal Diva!):
Buy (2) & get $2/3 Breyers, Klondike, Popsicle, or Good Humor
Buy (3) & get $3/4 Breyers, Klondike, Popsicle, or Good Humor
Buy (4) & get $4/5 Breyers, Klondike, Popsicle, or Good Humor
Valid through 9/23/09
Scenario- Get 9 pints for $1!
Buy 4 pints Breyers, $4.00
Use two $1/2 coupons (coupon doesn't specify size!)
Use two doubles
Grand Total: FREE!
Then you'll get a $4/5 catalina! (Catalina doesn't specify a size either!)
Buy another 5 small containers and you'll pay $1 total for 9 containers of ice cream!!!
And you'll get back another $4/5 catalina!!

This means I have to go back to Ablertsons today, darn it.
I emailed you ladies this deal earlier this morning!

With the catalina that's printing, you can get 9 pints for $1 total!
I did not get my catalina, and asked at customer service, who did not know about it. Where can I find the info on the catalina so I can take it back in and show them and get my coupon?
That's a good question. I've called the catalina company before (1-888-8coupon) and they sometimes give info and sometimes they do not. You have to mention teh specific catalina and then they may tell you specifics. I've also been told by Catalina that you can call Albertsons cooporate office and they should have all the details.
Utah Deal Diva, I don't see the e-mail? Maybe it got deleted on accident? I'll add this to the post, thanks!!
No worries- I just didn't want you to feel left out. ;)
A couple of my readers didn't get the catalina to print either- I wonder what the deal is?!
I was shopping with Jilene last night and she had issues receiving the baby food cat at a specific register. She switched lanes and it printed. A different friend had a coupon print but it was for a different amount, the same day, even though the purchased product was the same. If it isn't advertised in the ads, it can be a little tricky I guess.
Jeers to the people who take advantage of or abuse good deals and free stuff and ruin it for the rest of us. I went to the Albertson's on Eagle and McMillan and they were out of the Breyers pints because they said three women went in together this morning and bought all of it. Maybe they should think about taking what they can use in a reasonable amount of time and leaving some for the rest of us. Thanks for giving the rest of us a bad name, and making it harder for those checkers and store managers to come up with great deals in the future.
Anyone find a well stocked Albertsons lately? I only need a few of these but can't find them anywhere.
I must preface my comment that I'm not wanting "Jen" to feel like my comment is directed at her, but rather that she brings up an interesting point that many of us often times get frustrated about.
I was there last night when "those three women" came in and shopped. I know that after they bought their 13 cases, the stocker said there were still plenty of cases in the back if I wanted more than what I had already put in my cart. I told him I would take more, but didn't want to take too many. That's when he said he just sold 13 cases to 3 women. He said that there was still a bunch left and asked if I wanted more. I told him I was sure it was a pain for the checkers to do that many transactions, and he said now was the best time to do it, and there was an extra cashier if needed. He was super nice, but it's like he was trying to convince me to buy more.
We assume sometimes that those buying in large quantities are buying only for themselves. How do we know they aren't buying for themselves and other family members (I often do that because it is a lot easier for me just to buy for myself and 5 others and give to them than to try and explain the deal to everyone and they can't ever get in on it)? How do we know they didn't special order something and it's fair for them to take the large amount because that is what was ordered for them?
As for the cashiers last night, I have to say they were awesome. I asked if this bothered them when so many people buy so much of the same thing, and she said she thought it was awesome.
Bottom line, I agree, we should be considerate of others - those in line behind us, the cashiers, other shoppers, etc., but we also shouldn't assume that just because someone else bought a lot and we didn't get any that they have done something wrong.
Sometimes we get lucky and get in on the deals, sometimes we don't. I have to say there are some people who do a lot more research about when stores are getting stock in so they know when to be there to get the product. If they're going to put the effort in, then I can't complain. What does everyone else think???
It's really a loss for the stores if they aren't stocked well. They need to hire us as their shoppers!
I'm with Jen. My friends and I are becoming increasingly frustrated with the entire shopping experience in this area. We work full-time outside the home. Some of us actually work two jobs outside the home. We go to Albertsons and the "deals" are wiped out within hours of someone posting them on a blog. For example, when the hefty deal came out, I went to 5 different stores, because I was actually out of storage bags, not because I wanted to stock up, and all 5 stores were totally wiped out and the managers didn't know if there would be more on the next truck or not.
Not everyone is doubling and doing the "deals" to have a years worth of items in their house. I don't care whether a person is buying the products for their own use, or to "donate" or to resell or for their neighbor. The bottom line is that frequently, someone has come in and cleared the shelves.
A few of the blogs are advocating contacting the manager and ordering what they/their friends want, so that the shelves are not bare. Thats a great idea! When I want 2 little pints of ice cream to go with my childs birthday cake and there are none, I get a little miffed.
Martha mentioned that she was at that store when 3 ladies checked out. When I read Jens post, she talked about that morning and Martha talked about the night before. Based on those posts, I would say they were two individual incidents, with the end result being the store was wiped out. Eagle/McMillan is not known for giving rain checks either.
I've talked with at least one manager at an Albertsons near my office who agrees that his sales have increased with the doubling, but his regular customers are being hurt because they can't find product in his store. His bottom line will be hurt if/when this doubling event ends, because his regular customers will have gone elsewhere.
So, in answer to Martha's question, I strongly disagree with people coming in and purchasing more than a family can use in a normal period of time, because this is frequently to the detriment of other shoppers.
I also think that shoppers need to be aware of the shoppers behind them when they start putting out their orders on the belt. One Tuesday night, I was at Eagle/McMillan at 11:15pm, after work. I was planning on doing the catalina deal and 3 other doubling orders. The lady in line at the only checkstand open had over 20 orders. I missed the catalina deal, because it ended at midnight. I didn't leave the store (as the last person) until 12:30am. Perhaps a few orders (5 or less), then get out of line and allow other customers an opportunity to check out? The lady had so many orders (and they had to hand key in her albies number) that her debit card was declined.
Some very interesting opinions have been voiced here, and I agree partially with both sides. An easy solution: special order if you want to purchase huge amounts of anything on sale with a raincheck. I did just that with the Breyers.
We are having a family reunion in a few weeks so I asked at the customer service desk what I could do to utilize the sale and the catalinas. They wrote out 5 rainchecks (only can use one per transaction I guess) good for 10 pints each and placed a special order for 50 pints in various flavors in addition to their regular order.
When my ice cream comes in they will contact me and I can purchase as many of the 50 that I want with my rainchecks. I also plan to go in as early as possible so I won't be holding up the lines during their busy hours.
Hopefully this works out!
