Doublers at Albertsons - Good New and Bad News

I was at Albertsons (Meridian/Fairview) tonight and I learned two new things.

The GOOD NEWS is: You can use up to 5 doublers per transaction. That's right, the set that came out in the Wednesdays paper are numbered 1 & 2. The set that came out in the Sunday paper are 3, 4, & 5. I didn't even ask to use all 5, but my nice cashier Karen just told me I could do it. I questioned her because it states that you can only use 3 per transaction, but they are allowing all 5!!!! That's acutally GREAT news. Some blogs have said you can't, but
YES. YOU. CAN.!

The BAD NEWS is: You can no longer double a coupon that states "DO NOT DOUBLE." This I DID question because it's not like the manfacturer is giving back $2. (and I've never had a problem before.) They are giving back their total and then Albertsons is matching that, so it's two separate entities. Anyhow, the manager on duty said he is going to call corporate and find out the reason behind this, so although I didn't get an answer to my question, we may know shortly. Hang in there, we'll let you know!

Go do some doubling! I got 9 Hershey's syrup (my kids LOVE chocolate milk) and 2 mac and cheese for $8!

sorry, my formating is being crazy!!

I was told at the Albertson's in Logan Utah (today, 6-29-09 at 6am) that corporate had a big phone conference this morning and they were told NOT to accept 1-2 & 3-4-5 in the same transaction. They would only let us use 3 doublers per shopping trip.

I emailed Albertsons headquarters about the DND thing a few weeks ago and they said it was up the manager at each store. I used to be able to double DNDs but haven't been able to lately.

The Caldwell stadium store this morning would not let me use all 5 doublers. Not a huge deal since they are so coupon friendly anyways and let me do all of my transactions at one time through self checkout.

Oh ya, a fellow couponer had one doubler that she was not using and gave it to me at checkout. I rung up the last of my transactions, realized that I accidently rung up four items and wanted to use 4 doublers. Two of the doublers were the #5 and she was still happy to ring them all up for me.

I did my Albies transactions today and my cashier (that I love!) said he was NOT allowed to do all 5 in one transaction. He even called a manager to clarify for me, and they said that no, they had to split my items into sets of 3 (which they were awesome about doing) ... but it did kind of screw up my planning a little.
One a side note - I bought 3 pints of Ben and Jerry's with $1.00 off coupons doubled, making them 50cents each...and it printed out a $1.50 coupon off my next order of 4 pints.
