Free tulips anyone?

This Monday morning (5/11) , starting at 6:00am, the Boise LDS temple grounds (I84 and Cole)are allowing anyone who is willing come dig up and keep their beautiful tulips for FREE!

Just dig them up, store them in your garage, let the petals and leaves die down to feed the bulbs, then plant the bulbs in the fall.

The grounds keeper planted over 37,000 tulips this year and you are welcome to take as many as you like!! They are a variety of colors and sizes and quality tulips!

Do you know why they are doing this? I have never heard of this and wondered about the details.

Martha- I heard that they do this every year, so that they can plant different flowers in the same place through out the season.

Tamara-
This is so cool. Good of you to share. I wish I could go.
I saw you at the nickle auction and wanted to introduce myself but had to sneak out early and didn't really get a chance. My friend Jammie says you are the sweetest. Maybe next time.

Just got back with my Tulip bulbs...that was so cool! There were so many people, but plenty of flowers. What a great experience! I can't wait until Fall to plant them, and spring to see them!

I so wish I could have been there for this one!! Tulips are my favorite even though they only last for abou 4-6 days. Maybe some day I will be in Boise when this happens.
