Plant Herbs Now to maximize Your Great Deals

So, I love saving money. But, I also love to cook (and eat) great-tasting meals. One of the best ways to make anything you are cooking for dinner taste great is to use FRESH HERBS! You can even make a canned spaghetti sauce or Hamburger Helper taste gourmet with a little herb flair. In addition to my other vegetables, here are the herbs I am planting in the next week:

Basil (2-3 plants)
Dill (1 plant)
Cilantro (2-3 plants)

I already have these in my garden from last year because they are perennials (they come back every year). If you don't have any, plant these too:

Rosemary
Green Onions
Chives

Herbs will grow well in pots so you don't have to till a whole garden. A few pots on your patio and you are set for yummy meals all summer and fall! I even have a friend (thanks Angie!) who includes her herbs in her flower beds to add interest. Rosemary works especially well in flower beds because it is a perennial and it kinds of looks like a bush. The plant starters will cost you $10-$15 total and you will save HUNDREDS of dollars over the summer.
