I just went to a little farmer's market set up in front of The Flower Place on the corner of Main and State Streets in Meridian. They are selling strawberries for .50 cents per lb. I bought a bunch last week to make freezer jam and it turned out so good, so I went again today for more and they've got quite a few in the back and this batch is even better than last week's.
They don't have their price advertised so you just need to ask the man attending for his .50 cent strawberries and he has them in the back. He said he should have them at that price until Mother's Day. He'll have strawberries at good prices throughout the summer but probably not this low, so pick them up while they're still there for your freezer jam!

Great find Cherie! Were they small berries, or giant ones? I like to buy the small red ones, as I think they make the tastiest freezer jam. . .
I just got 10 pounds for $5! They are big beautiful berries comparable to anything I have seen in stores. I can't wait to eat my freezer jam...and you can believe I will eat it by the spoonful...
I had two friends just call me to say they were out! After posting on the blog they went fast! We'll update as soon as we know when they have more in. Glad you enjoyed the strawberries! They were some of the sweetest I've tasted.
The strawberries are gone, but you can get my favorite pectin to make jam at Fred Meyers for $2 a box. It is called MCP, and I think it makes the yummiest jam. When you buy 2, a $1 catalina prints out.
They told me that they won't be 50 cents a pound when they get them back in - more like $1.59/lb.
